A friendship lost.

"People change." They truly do.

Dear "friend",

hope you are well.
for now, this is my farewell,
whether it be forever
or just a brief moment.
don't lose yourself,
like i lost you.
i miss you,
take care.

A lost of a friendship is never easy, whether it be a change of heart, a difference of opinion, lack of interest, or whatever the reason may be. It seems as though the memories spent with that one person no longer matter, and the thought of them no longer brings spurs of happiness and laughter, only a feeling of sadness and loneliness.

The word "friend" no longer applies, and eventually changes to a more fitting word, "acquaintance". (Ugh! How i despise that word, oh so much!) When there is a meeting, it always seems to be awkward, just a brief "hello! i'm sorry but i have to go, but it was nice seeing you" type of awkwardness, or a forced conversation that both are unwilling to be a part of.

A friendship, in my opinion, needs effort. Without effort on one's part it becomes like a desperate lover trying to seduce an unattainable mate (well not quite, but you know what i mean). -_-
